This article is specific to NFP nurses or others using the NP Mobile 250 printer who want to add the ability to scan documents to the computer.


1. Press the Windows key

2. Search and open the Windows Store.

3. Search for and "Get" i.e. install Windows Scan.

4. Open Windows Scan.

5. Plug in the USB cable and turn on the printer. 

6. After a short period (less than 1 minute) the printer should appear in Windows Scan.

      a.Default scan is 200 dpi, color, save as a .png 

7. In the left pane, click on "Show More"

     a. Change File Type from .PNG to .PDF

     b. Change paper size from A4 to Letter.

    c.  Changing the dpi from 200 to 300 will make a prettier scan but take more space. 

    d. If you want a specific place to save your scans, click on
        Save file to" and define that directory. 

8. Insert document(s) face down into the scanner part of the printer. 

9. In Windows Scan, on the left pane, scroll to the bottom and click Scan.

10. Each page will be scanned. When finished:

     a. If the scan fails, an error message will be shown. Close the message and try again.

    b. If the scan succeeds, two buttons will appear at the top right of the Windows scan: View and close. 

        1. If you are done scanning, click Close. 

        2. Click View to review the scan. Click Close in Windows Scan after you close the .pdf file. 


From this point, to send the scanned file, open a new email and file attach the scanned document to it. 


Notes:

1. We do not support Wi-Fi printing or scanning. 

2. When scanning, make sure the papers are face down.

3. Make sure papers are fully inserted into the printer. The printer will ding when it is ready. 

4. You DO NOT need to press anything on the printer. 

5. The process can be a bit finicky but works.

6. You do not need ink cartridges in the printer to scan. 

    a. If you have a low ink or missing ink cartridge message, hide it on the printer status screen.
